Journal 52 week 8

Found poetry is this weeks theme and I can assure you all that it caused quite a headache - no books other than a phone directory (French) and a couple of magazines about cars, science & gadgets!

Eventually I stumbled across a card from a friend that was almost able to spark a little something in my brain... I've picked out the words A   VOLUNTARY   GARDEN RED   BORDERS but as the writing was quite small I've rewritten them over the background which is a random grid if Promarkers in shades of red & a little green.
I shall add some stamped flowers to this when I eventually return to the UK & my craft room.

It was a difficult one this week with those very limited supplies!

Bonus

I was checking to see if I'd got anything suitable for journal 52 #8 found poetry & the answer is not really but maybe I can still come up with something ! I did, however, find a night sky summer star chart from an old FOCUS magazine so I decided to make a bonus star twinchie:-) because I could!!!!

Star

Tuesday has come around again and with it twinchie challenge where the theme is STARS....
More improvising with table confetti, am I glad that I went out for a Valentines meal with two girlfriends!

Here is my share of a Promarker coloured background, glued on star sequin and silver sharpie stars
And here is my real star....Bill started using a walking frame a week ago, he still is not allowed to put weight on his right leg- X-ray on Thursday will determine that all is good and then he can gradually start to put weight onto the injured leg/hip. He has now started to exercise in the swimming pool and I'm told that he should start to improve quite rapidly. I should hope so with 2 physio sessions of 90" per day!

It's good to see him smiling and I got him outside to do a lap of the grounds in his wheelchair so that we could both enjoyed the sunshine. We are working towards a date mid march to get him back to the chalet :-)

Dark

It's been a beautiful week-end here in the alps although there has been more tragedy a couple of valleys away, a very large boulder crashed down the mountainside demolishing a converted barn...2 young children have departed this world, the 5 grow ups are in shock but alive :-( Dark indeed!

That also happens to be the theme across at every inchie Monday and here is my "limited supplies" share...
A  square piece of card (chocolate box) some Promarker to colour, a silver sequin that came of the Valentines day supper table - I've coloured it with a Promarker so it has become a dark star.i also added a few small stars using a sparkle gel pen.

Sending a prayer to the parents who lost their children in the early hours of this morning...

Mirror

Twinchie challenge time again :-) and we have Mirror as theme!

I could have made a nice handheld mirror at home but my limited supplies mean I am sharing something a little pretty...

A blue frame with a piece of scored silver card from a box of chocolates ( thank you Dad!) plus the words Mirror mirror on the wall...
This crafting with minimal supplies can be a real challenge!

Thanks for bearing with me, I shall be glad when normal service can resume :-)

Journal 52

Week #7 when I grow up

For the early part of my childhood my father was in the Royal Air Force, on leaving the RAF he went into Air Traffic Control and I remember visiting the control tower when my mum when into hospital to give birth to my brother. We lived in North Africa at the time and used to fly home to the UK every few years to visit the family so I have always been in an airline environment as for my secondary education I was travelling from France to the Middle East every three months.

I thought I would go on to become an airline hostess or possibly ground hostess but as this was the 70's and hijacking became common it was decided that it was possibly not a great career !

I went on to do some brilliant road trips (UK across Europe to Abu Dhabi & back) as well as trips around France, Spain, Italy and relatively short ones in the USA

So my journal page this week shows the airlines that I used for most if my travelling. I used a kids painting box for the background, created the darker splotches with a screwed up plastic bag :-), drew around a small plate to create the centre circle and managed to trace the airline logos off the screen of my iPad!

Dual

It's Monday again :-) and time for another inchie...this week the theme across at Every inchie Monday Is DUAL.

Not too much choice for me this week....my share is a pair of glasses: 2 lenses, 2 sides, they work for vision and against the sun! :-)

Can't remember what the stamp is but I think it's Clear Choice Stamps.

Went on a big adventure today...did my first solo drive to Digne to see Bill this morning. He was still at physio when I arrived which meant that he was in his wheelchair when he came back to his room. I was able to give him a hair wash without getting the bed sodden :-) also managed to bully him into trying the walking frame too, the physio was so pleased when I told him that he made him do 2 lengths of the parallel bars this afternoon and is hoping to get Bill into the pool in a couple of days- my fingers are crossed as I would like to think that we can have him back at the chalet by the end of the local half term holidays (22/2-9/3)

I'll be back tomorrow for the twinchie share and Journal52 share

Late

It's Thursday and it's been a busy week!

Monday was spent digging out as seen in my previous post, Tuesday we finally got some sunshine :-D

And I had a very nice young man of 21... Come round to start clearing some of the snow off my roof!
Yesterday was another beautiful day & I went down to Digne to visit Bill...
He got a food parcel from his daughter delivered whilst I was there CHEETOS, his favourite snack!

So today, as it's snowing again...I finally got round to doing tis weeks twinchie HEART and Moo Mania
BOOK PAGE so here are my shares

A piece of envelope (inside) coloured with Promarker, a border doodled with a sharpie & Gelly roll, the heart is a Paper Artsy stamp that has had a small portion (arrow) cut off.

A telephone directory page coloured with Promarker and a Lynne Perella stamp on a random piece of card.

Hope you all are keeping dry in the UK with all the dreadful weather that I keep reading about.

More news soon :-)

Chocolate

The theme over at every inchie Monday  sounds like what I need to boost my energy! I seem to have done nothing but clear snow for weeks now. My elbows ache so much that I truly believe I might not even manage to turn the handle of my cuttlebug ( if it was here).

Here is my inchie

A stamp that came with an issue of Creative Stamping :-)

And here are a few shots of a significant amount of snow...
The number 8 is at head height on me (5'9"/1.75m)!

There is a BMW X3 lurking under there, it was cleared yesterday afternoon ....

Here I am standing in our front entrance !

Next time they talk about a lot of snow in the UK I might just have a serious rant at the newscaster!!!

JOURNAL 52- week 6

This weeks prompt is love letters

I used Promarker & Spectrum Noire pens to colour my page in blocks, black Sharpie for the writing and some white Gelly roll & silver Sharpie for highlights.

An imaginary note, sort of, to husband who is still in traction....it all comes off tomorrow and then physio starts in earnest :-)

The lower section of the page is the lyrics to a love song by Michel Sardou called "la maladie d'amour" (1973) which is a long time favourite of mine and reminds me of teenage romances when I was studying in France :-D

News

Visited Bill yesterday - he gets all the weights removed Monday morning!
I travelled down by bus & train - took most of the day to get there & back.

Today, the very same train was derailed! It seems there was a huge boulder that rolled onto the line as the train was going along & the first carriage got bowled off. 2 dead & 7 injured is the latest I've seen on the Internet :-(

I feel very glad to be safe.

Meanwhile the snow is still falling and I wish I could wiggle my nose to make it all stop.
This was taken Thursday!

I'll give you an update again soon.

Tuesday 4 February 2014

Twinchie

It's Tuesday and it's time for a new subject for twinchie challenge: feathers is the latest theme so here is my share....

A random scrap (distress inks) and 3 fussy cut feathers (inked scraps) + some fake stitching.
The stamp was a freebie with Craft Stamper :-)

Sunday 2 February 2014

Cathedral

It's Monday again & whilst my week has gone quite fast....Bill's has dragged, quite literally! His traction comes off next Monday though so things will be getting easier for him :-)

Every inchie Monday is upon us again...
This week it's a piece of book page that's been stamped with a chocolate baroque bitty stamp.

Hope everyone had a good weekend & that you are now all ready for making artful creations, see you all again soon :-)

Journal 52 - week 5

Abstract art....

I've had to go with this in an interesting way...thanks to my lack of supplies!

Random blocks of watercolour pencils, scribbled & then a damp paint brush
A little plastic pot dipped in some black paint (children's paintbox) to give me some random circles
I've accentuated some sections of the circles with Promarkers
ART 52 JOURNAL have been stencilled/written with a Sharpie

I've added dots & vermicelli "stitching.
The stitching & blocks  reminds me of patchwork! Something I used to do a lot of :-)
The central JOURNAL had an omission "R" but I think I've managed to make it look deliberate :-)

I had fun doing this as the snow was gently drifting past my window yesterday afternoon.
